About the Project

Size:     550m²
Cost:     $1M
Date:     2005

This purpose-built manufacturing facility houses Amtech Precision Engineering which manufactures components which vary in size from Microns to Meters to customer specifications using advanced computer aided manufacturing technology. Indeed the Amtech Industrial Estate in Symonston, of which it is a part, was named in the company’s honour.  The facility includes a large single-storey workshop space and a two-storey administration wing.  The large workshop space houses several high-tech computerised machining centres which can work with a wide variety of engineering materials including aluminium, plastics, stainless steel, ceramics, titanium and copper. The building employs a simple structural system which allowed for each cost effective erection but which also accommodated an efficient layout and safe environment for manufacturing and front of house administration areas. The administrative functions are given expression through the use of a concrete block façade treatment with honed banding while the workshops areas are light-weight metal cladding which in combination gives the building an attractive character.
