The Central at Crace is Goodwin Aged Care Services (GACS) first purpose-designed retirement community not to include a residential aged care facility. Targeted at younger retirees who are interested in a low maintenance lifestyle, this apartment style development is a high density solution in the commercial hub of the award winning suburb of Crace. The development includes 127 apartment units, 8 townhouses and 550m² of commercial retail space on the 1.2ha site with 214 basement car parks concealed under the development with secure lift access. Although predominantly 4 storeys, the development has been carefully designed to ensure maximum solar access, an attractive outlook from all dwellings and a sense of community / security. A clubhouse building is a central focus for the community serving as a symbolic arrival point for the development and also operating as a common meeting point for all residents – in effect an extension to their living rooms with attractive lounge, meeting rooms, a wine bar and activity areas. It is anticipated that a new commercial café associated with the main mixed-use apartment building will also offer catering services to the clubhouse. A high quality urban landscape creates an attractive internal focal point for the development promoting a strong sensory experience and ensuring a legible and easy pedestrian access arrangement throughout the site.
