Australia’s ageing population is growing at unprecedented levels with an estimated 250% increase in over-65’s by 2040. This cohort has high expectations on quality of life issues and continued asset retention. Generally speaking, they seek greater access to transport and services, have more time for leisure and community activities and wish to remain connected to their existing community – ageing in community. Helping older Australians downsize to something more appropriate for their physical needs can ensure that an independent life is maintained for longer while reducing the burden on the public health system. At the same time, the NDIS is facilitating new ways for peoples with disabilities to establish purpose-built living environments which increase independence, a sense of self-worth while reducing the burden on their families. AMC specialise in the design of retirement, aged care and community housing and associated facilities for private, government and institutional / not for profit organisations.
