AMC is delighted that The Bradfield residential precinct in Downer was recognised with an Award for Planning Excellence in the Community Wellbeing & Diversity category at the recent Planning Institute Australia ACT Awards! With a proud history of assisting community and not-for-profit housing providers in the ACT region, AMC understood and supported CHC Australia’s vision to provide quality affordable housing for rent and purchase. Through a sustained and extensive consultative process with the Downer Community Association (DCA) and broader Downer Community, jointly led by CHC and AMC, various development parameters were agreed including a maximum development yield, maximum building height, diversity of dwelling typologies, preservation/staged replacement of a number of heritage trees, retention of the Old School Courtyard as a central asset and supporting rather than competing with the Downer Local Shops. The success of this consultation led to strong support from the DCA and a successful Territory Plan Variation process. The resulting development incorporates a mix of townhouses and apartments across 6 buildings in an attractive landscaped setting and sits comfortably in the Downer context referencing the character of the adjacent old CSIRO Experimental Station. Congratulations to all involved!

Googong North development takes out 2020 RLB ACT Development of the Year Award
Congratulations to Peet Limited & Mirvac on the success of their Googong North development at the recent PCA Innovation & Excellence Awards, taking out the 2020 RLB ACT Development of the Year award. This new development boasts exceptional amenities for Googong residents and incorporates the Googong North Village precinct designed by AMC. The mixed use precinct is a key element of the Googong North Masterplan, consisting of residential apartments, a Club Lime gym, supermarket, childcare centre, community centre, allied heath services, cafes and bars. The built form creates a legible and striking address for the corner of Gorman Drive & Caragh Ave with the development taking advantage of excellent vistas from the site. Internal streets and integrated landscape elements create an inviting and welcoming precinct for “Googonians” and visitors alike, consistent with Peet and Mirvac’s vision for this dynamic new community. Canberra & Region Visitors Centre takes out top award at Canberra Region Tourism Awards
Congrats to all the winners at the recent Canberra Region Tourism Awards held at the National Gallery of Australia on Friday evening. A special mention goes to the Canberra and Region Visitors Centre, which took out the award for Visitor Information Services. We were very pleased to assist Visit Canberra in the design and delivery of the new Visitors Centre at Regatta Point in 2016 and more recently with the opening of a new Information Kiosk at Canberra International Airport. Both are excellent touch points for visitors and locals alike to make the most of what Canberra and surrounding regions have to offer!
Denman Village Supermarket wins AIA Commendation Award
AMC is delighted to announce that our team was awarded a Commendation for Interior Architecture for the Denman Village Supermarket at last night’s 2019 AIA ACT Chapter Awards. This significant achievement reflects the outstanding efforts of AMC’s interior design team and the vision of Capital Estate Developments for the Denman Prospect Local Centre. Denman Village challenges the traditional Canberra local centre paradigm, successfully integrating residential apartments and townhouses with retail, hospitality, health and commercial offerings within a bustling precinct enhanced by landscape and sculptural elements.
The world-class IGA supermarket anchors the mixed-use precinct and has become a shopping destination within its own right. At 1,000m2 the supermarket offers unique, exceptional fresh produce to the Molonglo Valley within an inviting and high-quality setting. The supermarket’s inviting and voluminous entry foyer addresses a central pedestrian plaza, augmented by a feature glazed stairwell / lift volume which connects the retail precinct to the townhouses on the upper level podium.
Congratulations team and to all the other award winners and participants on the night!

The Central by Goodwin wins 2019 Rider Levett Bucknall ACT Property Development of the Year Award
AMC is excited that The Central by Goodwin has won the 2019 Rider Levett Bucknall ACT Property Development of the Year Award at the PCA’S “Roman Empire” themed ACT Awards night on Friday! This high quality retirement living development, designed by AMC, has been recognised as an innovative new approach to seniors housing that successfully integrates a new community into the heart of Crace, offering residents a range of housing choices and, unlike many such developments, their own front door. As a mixed-use precinct, it is effectively an extension of the Crace village centre and includes a sophisticated central urban landscaped area. This is the second time Goodwin has won this award, again supported by AMC, and the development is now a strong candidate for the Aurex Group Award for Best Retirement Living Development at the National PCA Awards night later this month. We wish Goodwin the best of luck!
Congratulations to all involved and to the other industry winners on the night.
