AMC congratulates Goodwin Aged Care Services for its recent recognition in the “Age Friendly Community” category at the ACT Seniors Week Positive Ageing Awards at a gala event at the Belconnen Labor Club. Goodwin’s Day Clubs, including the Monash Seniors Day Club by AMC – part of the Monash Green Retirement Village, offer pick up and drop off services, light exercises, group outings, games as a s morning tea and a hot lunch – all within a vibrant and fun atmosphere. AMC appreciates the important role these Clubs play in mitigating social isolation and mobility challenges faced by many senior members of the community. The Safe + Well Green Paper features the voices of representatives from Canberra’s Community and Private Sector as they unite around the issues surrounding ACT housing affordability crisis and was released to coincide with Anti-Poverty Week in October 2015. Director Alastair MacCallum contributed an engaging piece for this publication discussing the benefits and challenges facing adaptive reuse as a potential solution to tackle housing shortages and revitalising civic centres in Canberra. It was a great evening that celebrated innovation in a range of categories, showcasing key projects and industry professionals that are shaping the Nation’s Capital.

A discussion paper entitled “Transforming Canberra’s City Centre” has been launched by the Property Council of Australia and Canberra CBD Limited to encourage both the ACT government and the broader community to engage in a deeper conversation about revitalising Canberra’s city centre. The paper brought together a diverse group of town planners, public servants, retailers, restaurateurs, building owners and designers, including AMC’s Alastair MacCallum.
