A striking contemporary sculpture has recently been installed at AMC’s Denman Village Shops development. ANU Fine Arts student, Naomi Taylor Royd, won a competition run by Capital Estates with her Eucalyptus Triad sculpture, “inspired by the simple organic shapes of native eucalyptus trees”. The artwork consists of three 6m high curvilinear steel elements painted a bold red which are now installed in the main forecourt of the retail precinct. The sculpture is the latest addition to the recently completed development designed by AMC and complements the bold curves and natural materials palette which also take their cue from the natural surroundings and features of the Molonglo Valley. AMC was pleased to again work with Visit Canberra to deliver their new information booth within Canberra International Airport. Building upon the success of the Canberra & Region Visitors Centre at Regatta Point, opened in 2016, AMC was engaged to design the new booth which provides visitors with convenient access to information about what to see and do in Canberra via self-service touchscreen portals, brochures or with a friendly Visit Canberra staff member. The booth is located in the Arrivals area and operates 24 hours a day. More info can be found here.

As AMC approaches its third decade, our reliance on valued and talented staff members has become increasingly important.
It is with this in mind that we take great pleasure in announcing that Craig Perrott has been appointed as AMC’s first Associate. Craig joined us in 2011 when he still lived in Bundanoon. He spent 2 years commuting between home and Canberra before moving with his family to Canberra in late 2014. Since then, his career with AMC has flourished to now be a valued, trusted and talented senior member of the AMC team. Craig is a highly intelligent and capable professional with skills across all aspects of architecture practice and in more recent years he has played an increasingly significant role up-front with his design strengths and capacity for first principles thinking.
Craig’s new status of Associate is an acknowledgement of the high esteem in which we hold him, and a marker to our clients and peers that he is an emerging leader in our practice.

This is an exciting and long-awaited result for Giralang Properties, AMC and the Giralang community and is a positive outcome after a series of setbacks since the original shops closed in 2005. Construction is due to commence in October 2018 with the supermarket operational from late-2019. Watch this space! Read more here.
