A discussion paper entitled “Transforming Canberra’s City Centre” has been launched by the Property Council of Australia and Canberra CBD Limited to encourage both the ACT government and the broader community to engage in a deeper conversation about revitalising Canberra’s city centre. The paper brought together a diverse group of town planners, public servants, retailers, restaurateurs, building owners and designers, including AMC’s Alastair MacCallum.

Congratulations to the combined team of young professionals from AMC and WSP who recently won the Chief Minister’s Challenge 2014, with an innovative concept to re-energise Canberra’s West Basin. The competition was devised by FutureNet (Consult Australia) to engage young professionals in developing unique and innovative solutions for Canberra’s urban development. The concept, “ACTivate – Australian Centre to Inspire Vitality, Activity, Teamwork and Exercise” seeks to re-energise Canberra’s West Basin as an activity precinct through a world-class centre for movement, activity and play.
AMC and Geocon’s successful adaptive reuse of an old office building as a hotel – Abode, The Apartment Hotel, recently featured in the Domain exploring the challenges and opportunities such a project offered the design and construction team.
