About the Project

Client: Capital Estates Development & Denman Village ELC
Size: 956m²
Cost: N/A
Date Completed: December 2021

AMC was engaged by Capital Estate Development (CED) and Denman Village ELC to design the new Denman Prospect Childcare Centre, which forms a key part of CED’s exciting new Denman Village precinct.  AMC contributed architectural and interior design services to achieve a holistic and integated outcome for the centre.  Excellent solar orientation, together with a considered approach to internal planning ensures playrooms are light-filled with expansive views.

The architectural concept for the building utilises contrasting materials, geometric forms and large expanses of glazing to create a striking built form that takes its cue from the surrounding context.  The centre incorporates 5 separate playrooms and associated amenities, catering to babies, toddlers and preschoolers with consideration given to operational requirements, legibility and connection. A central zone accommodates shared amenities/facilities, including an open plan dining/activities space and staff areas.

The interior design scheme introduces warm, natural materials and tones with timber screening elements incorporated throughout to delineate spaces without compromising sight lines.  Black and white elements provide contrast against the earthy colour palette, with geometric patterns adding a sense of playfulness and interest. Children have access to a shared outdoor play area in addition to a dynamic indoor/outdoor playspace suitable for all-weather activities.
