This conveniently located RZA zoned in-fill site is well suited for the development of retirement accommodation for those eligible for social housing. Comprised of three suburban blocks, the site is prominently located with an excellent northern solar aspect. AMC’s design concept respectfully achieves a gradation in scale from 2 storeys, adjacent existing detached dwellings, to 3 storeys at the leading corner of the site. The site planning arrangement ensures maximum solar access and outlook for all dwellings, a legible pedestrian and vehicular access arrangement, casual surveillance to all areas of the site and an interesting architectural expression incorporating face-brickwork to the first two levels of the apartment block and a rendered and panelized expression to the third storey. The development achieves 20 apartment units of which 18 are purpose-designed as adaptable Class C units achieving the Gold Liveable Housing Standard to accommodate ageing in place. It includes basement car parking and lift access to most dwellings.
