AMC have always enjoyed the opportunity to design on corner blocks where street frontages and outlook are far more expansive. The site, on the corner of Robson Street and Jose Place, was steeply sloping from the rear to the front. The design concept for this duplex development sought to effectively conceal car accommodation with a single driveway / basement arrangement serving both dwellings. The townhouses are essentially the mirror image of each other with subtle differences in fenestration to add character and interest. Both townhouses were designed to be attractive to downsizers with generous living areas and a large master bedroom arrangement at the lower level with three bedrooms upstairs for family or friends to come and stay. The architectural character of the development is calm and balanced with the simple cubic-forms given expression through the incorporation of metal cladding as a counterpoint to the predominant rendered masonry façade. Each dwelling benefits from excellent northern solar access to the rear of the block with a seamless connection between the main internal and external living areas.
