Client: Fair Work Ombudsman
Date: May 2018
AMC has designed and project managed a number of fitout projects for the Fair Work Ombudsman (FWO) across Australia since 2013, including Sydney, Hobart and Canberra. In 2016, FWO engaged AMC to design and manage a new 3,500sqm fitout across four floors in Melbourne’s CBD. FWO required an intertenancy communication stair to provide a link across all floors, the structure of which was designed by the base building owner’s team of consultants. AMC worked with the unusual shape and orientation of the stair to accommodate FWO’s fitout requirements which included open plan workstations, EL2 and SES Band 1 & 2 offices, breakout spaces, secure rooms, utility zones, meeting and conference spaces.
The interior design scheme aligns with FWO’s other state offices achieving consistency across the organisation’s accommodation portfolio. The stair void provides visual connections across all floors, introducing natural light to the centre of the floor plate and creating opportunities for staff interaction. AMC and Shape, the appointed contractor, worked closely throughout the construction of the project to coordinate works with the base building appointed stair contractor to achieve completion within a restricted programme driven by strict lease end dates and relocation timetables.
