Client: Hellenic Club of Canberra
AMC were engaged in 2011 by the Hellenic Club to refurbish the existing TAB and sports bar which looked outdated and tired and suffered from poor patronage. The brief was to create a refreshing vibrant space with a sporting theme and a variety of seating options for patrons and incorporating state of the art audio visual systems. The Club’s desire was to create separate viewing areas for the TAB and sports screens with the ability to spilt audio within the space and combine the areas for key sporting events like the Melbourne Cup. This was achieved with screen positioning, loose furniture selections and directional speakers to isolate the audio within nominated zones. New interest was incorporated into the new sports bar with the inclusion of large graphics to the entry and a profile wall depicting iconic Australian sporting heroes. The use of timber flooring, a darker base palette of finishes with targeted accent colours through the use of upholstery fabrics and wall coverings along with new lighting have helped create an exciting and welcoming environment for the regular patrons and a destination venue for sports enthusiasts.
