Located in the suburb of Holt and built in the 1970’s, Kippax Fair Shopping Centre services a significant area of west Belconnen. In 2004 the shopping centre owner approached AMC to develop a refurbishment strategy in parallel with the development of a new Aldi Store and the refurbishment of the Kippax Library and general improvements by the ACT Government. Suffering from a bland external appearance, AMC developed a new façade arrangement incorporating striking red blade elements, curvilinear entry canopies at the two main entry points and new cladding to completely reinvigorate and ensure the ongoing tenure of the centre. The refurbishment works are viewed very positively and the centre management have run regular TV advertisements which showcase the refurbished building. Since the original commission AMC have been engaged to design internal refurbishment works including new lighting, signage, ceiling bulkheads and targeted floor finishes.
