Client: Living Design Projects
Yerrabi Ponds is a 90 place child care centre catering for five developmental age groups. As one of the first new centres in Canberra designed under the National Quality Framework (NQF) its design placed strong emphasis on indoor-outdoor play with direct access to natural play environments. Developed in consultation with the centre operator, Oorama Education, who have over 20 years’ experience in the child care industry, the fitout design was a collaboration between AMC, the builder (Living Design Projects) and the centre operators.
One of Oorama Education’s philosophies is to enroll families, not children and provide a service that supports and encourages parental and community involvement. The fitout reflects this with an open and inviting feel that is fully compliant with the NQF and employs the latest educational philosophies. The centre offers the latest in technology to support learning in the classroom using both tablets and smart boards to deliver parts of the educational program. The Yerrabi Ponds fitout is considered to operate more efficiently than all of the company’s existing centres and this is supported by parent and staff feedback and by the maximum occupancy being achieved after just three months.
