Looking to expand its support for the Australian Croatian community with a new seniors living development in Wollongong, Adria Care agreed to a joint venture with the Croatan Catholic Church in 2015 to build an integrated development in a new precinct flanking Mary Queen of Croats Church and the associated Hall.  The site is ideal being central to the Croatian community in Wollongong and in close proximity to Figtree Shopping Centre, public transport and a range of other medical and community services. This first stage of this culturally sensitive development will include a 104 bed Residential Aged Care Facility and 24 Independent Living Units and a range of community uses which will frame a new Village Square (Trg) reminiscent of a Croatian Village. The masterplan concept is respectful to its adjoining residential context, capitalises on the constraints associated with being a flood plain and incorporates an architectural expression which takes its inspiration from traditional and modern Croatian buildings to achieve an attractive and comfortable development in its urban setting.
