AMC was initially engaged by this Commonwealth Government Department to develop an Accommodation Brief to establish key design principles to inform future fitout and refurbishment works of its existing locations across the country.  AMC undertook consultations with Executive staff to understand the Department’s strategic accommodation objectives, identify benchmark projects and develop a set of design guidelines informed by the culture, corporate image, technology, operational requirements and projected growth of the organisation. Subsequently, AMC prepared a number of test-fits for a new Canberra office. The new fitout includes a combination of open plan workstation areas and enclosed offices, a number of meeting and conference rooms, as well as legal and secure store areas and breakout spaces. Tones of green and charcoal are combined with elements of leather and stone to create sophisticated yet contemporary spaces. The extensive legal library was prominently displayed along key walkways, improving access to these resources as well as providing interest and colour to the open plan work areas. AMC has since completed a number of fitout modifications and minor works projects in Townsville, Darwin, Cairns and Melbourne to align the Department’s accommodation portfolio to the new design guidelines.
