Denman Prospect Childcare & Community Centre

AMC was engaged by Capital Estate Development (CED) to design the new Denman Prospect Childcare and Community Centre, which will form part of CED’s exciting new Denman Village precinct. AMC has continued to play a key role in the development of Denman Village, designing and delivering the local centre shops, retail and residential components in late 2018. The Centre accommodates a childcare centre at ground level with a community centre located above, both of which benefit from expansive views and excellent solar orientation to create light-filled internal areas and dynamic external gathering spaces. Contrasting materials and geometric forms create a striking built form that takes its cue from the surrounding context. A key design challenge was anticipating the future needs of the Early Learning Centre to assist CED in determining the block arrangement for the site to ensure it suited the proposed uses and integrating the ELC into a combined facility that anchors and completes the new village centre. The site itself also presented challenges in terms of slope, orientation, servicing and connectivity all of which were successfully addressed by AMC to create a logical, iconic and elegant building that is consistent with the design language of the Denman Village precinct and the high level of quality required by CED.
