AMC was engaged in 2007 by the previous site owner, Nikias Diamond, to develop a design for a new mixed-use development which, after extensive community consultation with the Giralang Residents’ Action Group, local businesses and school community leaders, was ultimately approved for development in 2018.  The new centre, dubbed “G+” by new owner TP Dynamics, promises to be a vibrant and active centre for the local community and will consist of a 1,000m2 supermarket, retail outlets, community spaces and 54 residential apartments over four storeys.  These include a mix of 1, 2 and 3 bedroom apartments and lofts. The built form features clean lines and a contrasting palette of materials including face and rendered brickwork, which take their cue from the surrounding context. The development incorporates an attractive public realm with landscaping elements and street furniture providing interest and a sense of scale at street level. Particular consideration was given to safe and efficient carparking, vehicle and pedestrian movements during the design and consultation process, given the development’s proximity to the local Giralang Primary School.
