Living Design Projects approached AMC in early 2017 to assist in the revitalisation and refurbishment of the Green Square Centre in Kingston. Fronting an iconic public square at the heart of Kingston, the ageing Green Square Centre in need of extensive upgrades to secure existing and future tenants, including Ochre Health, the anchor for the development. Taking its cue from Ochre’s branding and colours, AMC developed a bold colour palette of orange and charcoal, offset by warm timber elements, polished concrete and stone cladding to the interior spaces. Works to the exterior of the centre, included new canopies, building signage and facade treatments. Facade upgrades to the rear of the building were targeted to minimise the impact to existing building signage that referenced the past uses of the building, providing provide context, interest and character. A number of structural and facade elements have been re-used / re-purposed within the building adding character and further revealing the building’s history. The Green Square Centre now accommodates Ochre Health, Capital Chemist and a range of smaller businesses accessed via revitalised internal lobby and stairs.
