To facilitate this, refurbishment and fitout works (including IT and AV upgrades) were required to assist the AFP achieve a reinvigorated, functional and agile working environment that facilitates the enhanced roles and responsibilities of the NOSSC. AMC undertook extensive stakeholder consultations with a range of key user groups at the outset of the project to establish the design brief and provided advice relating to suitable procurement methods to achieve an earlier completion date. Works included the creation of raised Watch Floor areas (with views to screen walls), dedicated command, briefing and supervisory work areas and associated breakout and utility spaces. Key design considerations included maintaining accessibility to and from the raised work areas, treatment of exposed services to facilitate additional ceiling heights, and the staging of works to ensure operational continuity was not impacted during the works.
