Alastair MacCallum

Alastair is a registered Architect and Founding Director of AMC. He is deeply respected for his professionalism, leadership, energy and balance of skills which has seen AMC Architecture grow into one of Canberra’s most respected architectural practices, successfully delivering a broad range and scale of commissions in Canberra, regional NSW and indeed across Australia over the past 23 years. Alastair is seen as a strong voice for the property sector who has advocated effectively for aging in community, a more compact city, adaptive reuse, planning reform, housing choice and housing affordability, the importance of the Architecture profession to the built environment and the principles of social sustainability. He cares about Canberra and is proud of a city that is developing an enviable reputation as one of the World’s most liveable cities.

Alastair’s particular expertise lies in the areas of project initiation and feasibility analysis, brief development and design with a particular emphasis on retirement living, commercial, institutional, community based and residential projects. He has highly developed communication skills, a proven track record with the authority approvals process and a capacity for intuitive design solutions recognised with numerous industry awards including the AIA, PCA, MBA and HIA.
